Photographing the Brock University Badger curlers is my way of supporting these student athletes. They need team photos to the websites and programs that are part of national competitions.
Shooting the players is part ritual and part hilarity. The guys, for whatever reason, refuse to smile, and prefer the serious competitor look. The girls are fantastic - hair and make-up done and more than willing to smile and pose to achieve the best images.
Each year the varsity women's team wants to try something different. So, I put them on the curling ice, with all of their heads in the centre of the "house" or target. Their spontaneity and delight is evident.
